INDISPENS(P)ABLES III

February 2017: I began my adventure as a Temple Spa Lifestyle Consultant and, in the following months I have been exclusively using Temple Spa products on my skin. Actually, I have used all the products; yes, all of them, more than once.

I am not in the least ashamed of this decadence

There are one or two of them that have become staples for me (as you may have read) but by far, the ones I use regularly on my face are so magnificent I thought I would share my ‘indispens(p)ables’ with you. There is too much I want to say about each product for one blog post so this will also be the first ‘series’ I have produced. Enjoy!

IN THE BEGINNING | REPOSE | PURIFICATION

PURIFICATION
Deep Cleansing Mask
A vacuum cleaner for the pores!

Personally, I hold PURIFICATION in high regard and as you may already know, I like to team it up with IN THE BEGINNING. They are a fantastic little combo for when my skin needs a deep, moisturising cleanse with that authentic spa experience and, it’s not just me!

In Temple Spa’s independent user trials, 94% said that PURIFICATION helps to decongest pores whilst 88% agreed that their skin positively glowed after using PURIFICATION so, if you have issues with hormonal skin flare-ups, acne and/or blackheads then this could be the Holy Grail skincare solution that you have been searching for!

Our products are not just for mature skin either; it is often my joy and privilege to hold classes for teenagers – usually because their mothers are already customers of mine and unsurprisingly, most of their peers have never heard of our products before. I know that they are not the type generally found in teen magazines but I think they should be because teenagers definitely love Temple Spa!

Every teenager who faces the spot monster needs a jar of PURIFICATION on their dresser to defend themselves.

“I can’t believe how much ‘stuff’ came off!”

I have yet to enjoy an evening with a group of bubbly teens who did not love our products once they had tried them and, in their enthusiasm, they are no different to the adults I encounter with the amazed cries of “my skin is so smooth” and “I can’t believe how much ‘stuff’ came off!”

This always makes me smile because whenever I hold a Temple Spa class for adults, they get so animated that they always remind me of enthusiastic, excited teenagers; it’s just so heart-warming!

18th Birthday Spa Experience

So, during a recent class, which had been arranged to celebrate a customer’s daughter’s eighteenth birthday, I chatted with her half a dozen or so young guests (ages ranging from 14 years old upwards) about their skin, skincare routines and particularly about those dreaded spots!

On the subject of the latter I of course immediately reached for my PURIFICATION. Much akin to the fascination with Dr. Sandra Lee’s pimple-popping exploits, these young ladies were transfixed by how they could actually see the PURIFICATION vacuuming away at those pores. Seriously – if you have a particularly prominent blemish and you keep an eye on progress after applying PURIFICATION you will witness this for yourself.

I have written about PURIFICATION so often on social media that it would be hard to miss one of my posts about it but I honestly love it and I cannot tell enough people about how marvelous this little pot of magic is.

You may have already seen my photographs of PURIFICATION treatment results on very young skin (21-years-old) and if not you can find them in this Facebook Album. The results were immediate and astounding!

So not only does this product look good and perform well but, the biggest, initial surprise for everyone, I think, is when they open the jar and divine scent of PURIFICATION teases their senses. Unarguably super at decongesting your pores and in addition, if you are feeling a bit fuzzy-headed then PURIFICATION can help you to feel less so. I make sure I never run out.

My final mention is that the most recent member of the PURIFICATION ‘family’ is an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny, travel size pot that is included in THE SKIN SPECIALIST Skin Therapy Hero Collection – Temple Spa’s hand-picked collection of skin heroes for the most indulgent facial-at-home experience – so of course it contains a sweet little pot of PURIFICATION!

I must also mention that at the time of my writing this post, you can win THE SKIN SPECIALIST by entering a free competition over at The Frenchie Mummy blog (ends at midnight on the 6th January 2018). Good luck!

Since I am writing this blog post in December then I should probably advise that THE SKIN SPECIALIST is part of our fabulous Christmas gift range so if you are still doing your Christmas shopping (or haven’t even started yet) then drop by my personal website and treat yourself to some PURIFICATION!

SPALLOWE’EN

I love a face mask, me; always have done – way back to my teenage experiments with mashed bananas and whisked egg-whites (ugh – what was I thinking..?)

When I was asked at a Temple Spa meeting what my favourite mask was, I had no hesitation in sharing my favourites with my colleagues and now I am sharing them here.

I do have a soft spot for THE CONTOURIST which is a sheet mask (championed by Lady Gaga, for one) if I am going to an event.

THE CONTOURIST recently picked up a gold award in for ‘Best Sheet Mask’ at the Beauty Bible Awards 2017 and no wonder! This fab’ facial mask to helps sculpt and define facial contours, while brightening, lifting, and targeting wrinkles. In Temple Spa’s independent trials 91% agreed the mask left their skin hydrated and nourished, 83% said the mask left their complexion brightened and their skin instantly smoother.

My skin has always been pretty normal but in recent months it has seemed dull and tends towards dryness (a change I have noticed following cancer-related treatments) and although I have never been prone to serious breakouts, I have noticed that my pores are enlarged in places and I do occasionally get a pimple. If I have had a few late nights and I have been busy, my skin tends to react by drying out even more; no doubt because I have neglected to rest and hydrate my body properly (which is code for ‘too much coffee not enough sleep’).

I use IN THE BEGINNING routinely and cleanse my face with it day and night (you can find out more about my IN THE BEGINNING routine here). It smells absolutely divine and contains a host of juicy, natural ingredients such as lavender, basil and, one of my favourite flowers, marigold so I have a cleanser that not only compliments my skin but my sugar skull obsession as well!

Sugar skulls and Day of the Dead references not quite creepy enough? Once a month I also apply a PURIFICATION (Groomed & Glossy just included it in their Top 10 Clarifying Face Masks) to my entire face – this is a look I like to call ‘spallowe’en’ and let me tell you, PURIFICATION terrifies those blackheads right out of your pores – you can actually watch it happening! It’s like having Dr. Sandra Lee (aka Dr. Pimple Popper) in a jar.

One of the things I discovered through Temple Spa was multi-masking (where you apply different types of masks to various sections of your face depending on specific skin issues) and double-masking (where you mix masks in tandem). My preferred double-masking duo are PURIFICATION (dotted on any blemishes and across my T-zone where I have enlarged pores) and IN THE BEGINNING (on the rest of my face).

PURIFICATION

This rich marine and land mud mask gives a professional deep cleanse; helping banish blocked pores, breakouts, blackheads, and oily skin; it’s a vacuum cleaner for the skin. The dense mousse texture cleanses and purifies, removing dead skin cells and impurities to reveal a healthy glow without drying the skin. It’s the ideal mask to use on a lacklustre complexion; within 5 mins skin will emerge feeling clean, cool, radiant, and refreshed… positively purified!

IN THE BEGINNING

A highly concentrated daily cleansing balm that gives a ‘just had a facial’ feeling every time you cleanse your face. Its unique buttery-crystalline texture gently removes make-up and daily impurities whilst moisturising and rejuvenating dull looking skin. This luxurious emollient balm contains beads that gently exfoliate the skin before completely melting to release a deeply cleansing vitamin rich complex straight into the skin layers, without drying or stripping. Your skin is left clean, fresh, radiant, moisturised and dewy; it will be positively glowing with health and vitality.

Therefore, the mask(s) I use the most are IN THE BEGINNING Deep Cleansing Melt which is first and foremost a cleansing balm but, like many of our products, it can multi-task. I massage it in, missing any ‘isolated’ problem ares (like those darned pores) and then to those I apply PURIFICATION Deep Cleansing Mask.

After twenty minutes I place a warm flannel over my face for another couple of minutes and then use that flannel to remove the masks that have by then done their work.

So, that’s one of my personal rituals. Do you have a favourite Temple Spa mask? Tell me in the comments below and, if you want to, share your Temple Spa mask routine too. I’m on hand to answer any of your questions about using masks and which ones are best for your skin type.

IN THE BEGINNING | REPOSE

A good night’s sleep in a jar!

Ever since I was a little girl, I have been transported by the scent of lavender. Finding tiny muslin bags of it nestled between the floaty rainbows of my mother’s chiffon in her scarf drawer was akin to discovering treasure. No, I wasn’t supposed to be rootling about in my mother’s dresser but therein were evening gloves of every possible colour, hair combs shaped like birds and that woody-scented, half-finished packet of my late father’s unfiltered cigarettes that she never could throw away.

Of course, everything in those drawers existed in a bloom of dessicated, lavender perfume, constrained in silky, be-ribboned sachets. I would marvel at the miniature, dry flowers, shaking them to hear the petticoat-like rustle they would make and holding them close to my face, eyes closed, breathing in their ethereal perfume. I imagined that this was what amethyst smelled like (later quartz-smelling activities were disappointing, I am sad to report).

Lavender

The colour purple has always been my favourite and, I do mean the actual colour, not the Alice Walker book – although that is magnificent, too.

Most of my clothes (disregarding the ones that are not black) hang in shaded rows of purple and blue, like the busy bee highways of fields of lavender.

PHOTO: Bottle of QUIETUDE & jar of REPOSE

QUIETUDE & REPOSE

There is even a home spa room in my house that is a tiny, purple palace – in homage to that gorgeous hue. It is where I keep my (disappointingly-unscented) amethyst crystals and, in times of stress, my marbles.

Meanwhile, my entire home is always scented with a mix of lavender, Temple Spa QUIETUDE and Sai Baba Nag Champa Incense.

One of these days I will have dense, lavender borders outside my house for those busy bees to settle upon.

I sampled REPOSE for the first time at a friend’s spa experience, long before I became a consultant. We all applied it to our décolletage and were duly coached not to wash it off before bed time. I dutifully retired a couple of hours later, bosom unwashed, and could never have imagined how effective it was until I awoke the next morning, completely refreshed from an unexpectedly good night’s sleep.

Since I was in the market for a good night cream, REPOSE swiftly found its way to my Temple Spa routine. I will not be without it and I keep a jar in the bathroom and my bedroom. Even when I leave the house, REPOSE comes with me; I keep some in my MUSIC BOX and there is always a small pot of REPOSE in my bag.

PHOTO: Jar of REPOSEAs I find myself repeating, so often, REPOSE (like many Temple Spa products) does not stop at doing everything it says on the box – it goes further, much further.

You can explore all of the things I have found that REPOSE can do over at my handy Product Spreadsheet but here are some highlights that feature some of the benefits of using this lovely aromatherapy resting cream.

Better than ‘just’ a moisturiser or night cream, this versatile product can be dabbed on your pulse points to relieve anxiety and on your temples to soothe the first signs of a headache or migraine. It is a brilliant carry-on for travelers as it helps to hydrate you in flight and can alleviate the symptoms of jet-lag post flight.

Not only does REPOSE promote a good night’s sleep for you but, as it combats snoring, it is a good night’s sleep for everyone, then!

However, my absolute favourite and unexpected benefit that REPOSE offers is that it is perfectly safe to use on babies and small children. Rubbed into the soles of their feet and nap or bed time, it helps little angels to drift off on a calm, lavender cloud of bliss. This makes it a wonderfully thoughtful gift for new parents as it is available in a handy travel size; inexpensive, useful and perfect for toting about in baby changing bags!

The travel size is also available in a couple of exclusive collections from Temple Spa, including TAKE A MOMENT which has been launched in support of the Mariposa Trust.

A Collection Of Peace For Skin, Body & Soul
A little bit of me-time

All sales from this beautiful collection include a donation to the Mariposa Trust, who support those who have experienced the loss of a child at any stage during pregnancy, birth or infancy.

We want to raise as much as we can to help fund a 24 hour helpline to ensure there is always someone conscientious, kind and knowledgeable to talk to – whenever they are needed.

REPOSE is just incredible; it even passed the fierce scrutiny of one of my grown-up sons – who is known for not sugaring his opinions (that’s my boy) – as he cited it as being something that he really liked, from the obvious benefits as a resting cream through to the no-nonsense but still, luxurious-looking packaging.

Temple Spa have even devised a REPOSE ‘Relaxation Ritual’ which helps us to get the best benefits from this lavender-scented pot of serenity.

NOTE: The guy in this video is not my son; it is Temple Spa guru, Chris Parkes – not a known relation!

In conclusion then, whenever I am asked to suggest a good night-time moisturiser, I always begin my recommendations with REPOSE because, I do firmly believe that everyone’s day should end with it (and because my very wise son says so).

I am always happy to answer questions:

THE ITCH I NEED TO SCRATCH

I am not a doctor. I am not a dermatologist. I have no medical qualifications. I write about what I know and I know my customers’ needs. As it is with psoriasis, so it is with eczema; I am asked constantly if Temple Spa products are “good for eczema” and I always answer that question honestly.

Our skin takes a serious beating every, single day. If it is not being pummeled by free radicals, UV rays and pollution then it is bracing itself against wind, snow and rain. Skin reacts to fatigue, diet and mood; we paint it, scrub it, scour it and treat it quite harshly at times yet it spends its entire life, your entire life, protecting your body from ravages that you might not even know are present. The human epidermis is the body’s largest organ and it is a warrior!

It stands to reason then, that sometimes our skin reacts to the volatile environment it is shielding us from. Eczema flare-ups are often the result and atopic eczema is by far the most common.

The exact cause of atopic eczema is unknown, but it’s clear it is not down to one single thing. Atopic eczema often occurs in people who get allergies – “atopic” means sensitivity to allergens. It can run in families, and often develops alongside other conditions, such as asthma and hay fever. NHS

We do not specifically cause eczema, eczema is a reaction to any number of irritants and those of us who have experienced the excruciatingly itchy, dry, inflamed and weeping skin will know how truly wearing eczema can be. No wonder I am asked about it so often; either because the questioner is seeking relief or is concerned that they might use a product that will cause their eczema to intensify.

My honest answer? I do not know. Personally, I do not think that you should use any ‘new to you’ product on your skin if you have a history of difficulties or allergies. The sensible option would be to test the oil, cream, wash or whatever it is that you want to try on a small area of your skin first. Then wait. Wait for a couple of days to see if your skin reacts; if it does then that product is clearly not for you. I am always happy to allow my customers to trial a product first, that is the whole idea of SPA TO GO – the ultimate try before you buy experience.

Therefore, I always advise my customers with eczema, psoriasis and other skin-related issues that they should try Temple Spa products, because so many other sufferers have tried them and found them to be beneficial but – patch test first! Always!

BE CLEAR – The Ultimate Correcting Serum

The ‘BE’ range we carry at Temple Spa has proven itself to be marvelous for very sensitive skin and it is a range that time and again, customers with irritation-prone skin find is a blessing.

Temple Spa have put a  great deal of work in to finding solutions for those of us with hypersensitive skin, fusing natural ingredients with state of the art scientific and dermatological research to develop products that celebrate, nourish and calm problem-prone skin:

BE GONE – Kind-hearted Cleansing Crème

“We know how uncomfortable hypersensitive skins can be, so we have put a lot of hard work into developing our own patented serum complex, Calmaderm™, which is rich in natural ingredients vitamins and boosters that work in harmony to communicate like a lullaby to the skin. The products featured on this page are especially helpful in dealing with touchy skins – either because you have a sensitive skin type or because your skin is just a bit red and sore at the moment.”
Temple Spa, from HYPERSENSITIVE SKIN, Sensitive Skin Care.

QUENCH – Rejuvenating Mask

Excessive scratching, prolonged dryness and even the steroid creams often used to combat eczema can cause your skin to become fragile so a gentle but effective skin strengthening treatment like BE STRONG can bring excellent results. Likewise, a soothing face mask like BECALM or a rejuvenating face mask like QUENCH can work wonders and guess what? You can use them on other areas of your body aside from your face.

Whilst the skin on your face is delicate and products designed for use on the body are not recommended for facial use, the reverse is not the case and it is perfectly safe to use products deigned for the face on arms, legs or anywhere that you have an eczema breakout.

IT’S ALL GOOD – Nutritious Facial Oil

Those itchy, inflamed, flaky and scaly patches can weep and bleed and drive you crazy. The damage is more than obvious and one product from Temple Spa that crops up over and over in any discussion relating to damaged skin is IT’S ALL GOOD Nutritious Facial Oil.

Another luxurious blend that is so much more than a skin oil for your face, you can apply it anywhere that you have an eczema patch where it gets to work nourishing, firming and rejuvenating stressed or fragile skin whilst also strengthening your skin’s natural barrier.

LIFE DEFENCE – SPF 25 Daily Environmental Protection

Another area of interest (and often dismay) for chronic eczema sufferers is which sun cream to use. Sunshine is purportedly good for eczema, with some sufferers finding that their condition varies through the seasons with summer being the least problematical. Either way, we do all need to treat our skin to a good SPF.

Temple Spa‘s LIFE DEFENCE SPF 25 face cream is an anti-aging moisturiser that defends against free radical damage, UVA and UVB rays; it is suitable for even the most hypersensitive skin so it is no wonder that it has been shortlisted in the Pure Beauty Magazine awards ‘BEST NEW SKIN CARE PRODUCT’ category!

You should probably go and cast your vote for LIFE DEFENCE (if you have not already).

Our skin is as unique and individual as we are as human beings. I know customers (and consultants) who have all tried the same product and a very small percentage have experienced a reaction but, not necessarily the ones who already have a pre-diagnosed skin condition. On the whole though, I have been delighted to find that the vast majority of my customers have been completely blown away by how well Temple Spa products have worked for them and their problem skin – well, their ‘it used to be a problem’ skin, actually.

I am not a doctor. I am not a dermatologist. I have no medical qualifications. I write about what I know and I know skin. Whether yours makes you feel like a Mabel Lucie Attwell illustration or an extra from Night of the Living Dead, I can help you find a Temple Spa product that is right for you or have the experience and common sense to advise you if I think that I cannot. I am confident of that.

INDISPENS(P)ABLES

There is too much I want to say about each product for one blog post so this will also be the first ‘series’ I have produced. Enjoy!

IN THE BEGINNING | REPOSE

IN THE BEGINNING
Deep Cleansing Melt

A hand-blended facial in a jar!

Clean, balanced skin is the Holy Grail of course and I like to be thorough so I have always been a wash-off cleanser kind of a gal until I tried IN THE BEGINNING. It is a balm rather than a lotion or foaming wash and it is the first of the products I am going to mention that are multi-purpose (one of the recurring themes I absolutely adore about the Temple Spa range); this one is a cleanser, an exfoliator and a mask.

When I first saw a pot of IN THE BEGINNING I was struck by how beautiful it looks and also how aptly-named, as if someone caught sunlight in a solid, crystal chalice; the gorgeous honey-gold colour almost seems to take on a vibrant glow but yet, remains so soothing.

All this before I have even opened the jar!

The way Temple Spa present their products is terribly gratifying. Their opulent, contemporary packaging with its nuances of retro Hollywood glamour is exquisite overall and IN THE BEGINNING does not disappoint; it even comes with its very own spatula (because we all know that dipping our mitts straight in to products is bad – right?) You really do not need to use very much at all because a little truly does go a long way, which is another favourite Temple Spa idiom of mine and based on solid fact because the longevity of their products makes them superbly cost-effective. I generally scoop a fat, pea-sized amount out of my little tub. If you are scooping out anything like the size of a sherbet lemon then stop it – your face is not that big.

Retro Barratt’s Sherbet Fountain candy via VeganWikiWhen you untwist the black, bakelite-esque lid and open the gorgeous, frosted-glass container a sublime mingling of scents like lavender, clary and basil lets you know that morning has definitely arrived! To me, the aroma is reminiscent of Mediterranean citrus with notes of aniseed or liquorice (that will be probably be the linalool ingredient) and this entire redolence reminds me (and I do apologise to the Temple Spa blenders here) of the slightly less alluring Barratt’s Sherbet Fountain.

When I was a child, my Aunty Clara would visit every week and hand over our hugely-anticipated pocket money. I would scamper off to Mr. Edward’s shop and almost always selected a Barratt’s Sherbet Fountain. To the uninitiated, a Barratt’s Sherbet Fountain is a traditional and much-loved British candy described perfectly by VeganWiki, thus:

“consists of sherbet and a stick made from liquorice […] the top of the stick was intended to be bitten off to form a straw and the sherbet sucked through it, where it fizzes and dissolves on the tongue.”

To that end, the colours, the scent and the texture (to a point) of this sumptuous melt create an entire sense of nostalgia for me. I would defy anyone not to face their day with a broad smile after using IN THE BEGINNING first thing.

IN THE BEGINNING‘s texture is curiously not unlike that of a pear. Anyone who has wept buckets over City of Angels will recall Meg Ryan’s character, Maggie explaining how a pear tastes to Seth, played by Nicholas Cage:

Seth: What’s that like? What’s it taste like? Describe it like Hemingway.
Maggie: Well, it tastes like a pear. You don’t know what a pear tastes like?
Seth: I don’t know what a pear tastes like to you.
Maggie: Sweet, juicy, soft on your tongue, grainy like a sugary sand that dissolves in your mouth. How’s that?
Seth: It’s perfect.

That is also a pretty accurate analogy for IN THE BEGINNING; it certainly dissolves on your skin, it is indeed ‘perfect’ and it is definitely fit for an angel.

However, I am not sure about the taste; I have never tried ingesting any of my Temple Spa products but it is well-documented that I am often tempted because they just smell so delicious!

IN THE BEGINNING absolutely encourages me to take a few moments to turn my morning routine into a mini spa ritual as I massage it into my forehead, cheeks and chin using circular upward movements. This helps to dissolve IN THE BEGINNING into my skin, increasing its efficacy and allowing the tiny, natural beads it contains to gently work their exfoliation magic as they melt.

At this point, depending on how busy my day is and how much time I have, I opt to either take the remaining IN THE BEGINNING off my face with a warm flannel or I allow IN THE BEGINNING to sit for twenty minutes before I gently massage it once more, prior to removing it carefully with a warm flannel. The latter is my preference as it gives me few minutes of indulgent me time.

On the subject of indulgences, caffeine is one of my passions and I usually do not like anything to interfere with the aromatic experience of a good cup of fresh bean, but drinking my morning coffee while I let IN THE BEGINNING go to work on my skin is a winning combination. Maybe it is because I am currently obsessed with Los Andes Honey Espresso from Pact Coffee; it has some extremely citrus-sweet notes which certainly compliment IN THE BEGINNING (I really was not expecting that to be a thing).

Whether I have opted for the quick cleansing ritual or the full mask routine, when I have removed my IN THE BEGINNING I always splash fresh, cold water on to my face to stimulate my circulation. The results are always pleasing, whichever way I use IN THE BEGINNING and I love to see the way my face takes on a much more radiant glow.

IN THE BEGINNING is, as I always explain to my hosts and their guests at Spa to Go Experiences, my ‘go-to’ cleanser and I use it daily. It is more of a religion than a regime; you will testify to that when you try it too!

EYEBROWS ON ‘EEK!

A year ago today, I blogged about the guest post I wrote for the Macmillan Cancer Support online community. It included a thing of rarity – a selfie; not just any selfie but a so-called #NoMakeUpSelfie that was taken in 2015, to document the ravages of my chemotherapy. I have never been particularly comfortable in front of a lens and actually, the whole concept of selfies terrifies me. Therefore, to take one of myself (and publish it) when I felt that I probably looked the very worst I ever have done (expect perhaps when I ‘experimented’ with gaudy make-up in my teens) was excruciating for me but, entirely necessary.

More recently, I posted another selfie to my personal Facebook account and what an unexpected response I received to this fun observation about my eyebrows (or lack of).

Often it’s the little things that please me. Like the unmistakable evidence here that my eyebrows finally appear to be growing back! Losing my hair was definitely the worst part of chemotherapy for me but the human body is a strange and complex miracle. Sometimes it can fix itself. Even eyebrows.

The struggle with my eyebrows is real and well-documented; I am strongly considering cosmetic tattooing to fill in the gaps, once I can afford it, but I was overwhelmed by how many people responded positively to my latest (actually, second ever) #NoMakeUpSelfie.

Maybe I should post more selfies – who knew?

Something I keep getting asked about my ‘sudden’ eyebrow regrowth is:

Have you been doing something different?

Alrighty then – I don’t want to make any wild claims here but, to be clear – my eyebrows may or may not have grown back, in their own time and any point between chemotherapy and an undetermined future date. They have started to grow back though and yes, the thing I am doing differently is taking better care of me and my skin. Improved diet, more fresh air, longer periods of exercise – all these things do a body and mind good. I am happier for it, I look healthier for it and any/all of those things could be the reason. Nevertheless, the major life-changer for me has been my skincare routine and before you think this is going to be some kind of snake oil promise – I assure you, it is not.

Yes, I have used a lot of luxury Temple Spa products on my skin since February; yes, I am a Temple Spa Lifestyle Consultant and therefore of course I earn a commission on everything I sell. Obviously I do.

But I would never tell a lie…

So, do I think that my Temple Spa products made my eyebrows grow back? No, I do not.

I do think that they have helped me enormously with my self-confidence and encouraged me to take better care of myself. I joined Temple Spa because I was genuinely impressed with the quality of their range and the way I that feel after using the gorgeous products; I earnestly wanted to share that experience with others. I also needed to get back to work and with so many unpredictable health issues it was difficult but, Temple Spa absolutely welcomed me and my quirky ways.

However, in my heart, I do think that part of this recent eyebrow success could be the results from the eyebrow massage that my wonderful manager, Jenna taught me at one of my first classes. It’s my favourite facial exercise – honestly, until you’ve finger-pinched your own eyebrows you haven’t lived! So, so, so relaxing – believe it or not. Maybe it was the stimulation from doing those little movements regularly; I don’t know for sure but I would not be surprised at all if that sped up the process and, it didn’t cost me a penny.

I have a long way to go. I’m still only in remission but for now, thank you Temple Spa. One way or another, it is your products, ethics and philosophies that have been instrumental in giving me the confidence to post a selfie and I don’t think anyone was expecting that – least of all, me!

I WILL NEVER SELL YOU MUSHROOMS

When I first began using Temple Spa, as a customer, I was at a class when the question of skincare for psoriasis cropped up and I distinctly remembered the consultant who was taking the class advising that any product from Temple Spa’s ‘BE’ range (particularly PEACE BE STILL) as well as GLORIOUS MUD worked well with psoriasis-ravaged skin.

Fast forward to my first month as a Temple Spa Lifestyle Consultant and I approached a friend who I knew was plagued by psoriasis. I was so impressed with the Temple Spa range that I genuinely wanted to offer her the chance to try some of our products and see if her skin enjoyed the positive results.

I was met with a solid, brick wall. It was as if she was so weary of trying so many different lotions and potions that she just threw up her stock “I can’t put anything on my skin that might set it off” defence response and I was dismissed.

We all like to offer up our pearls of wisdom, don’t we? Some new thing we are enraptured with, the nugget of advice we are sure will change someone’s whole life. I know this from the many cancer-related ‘cures’ suggested to me – from mushrooms to yoga (yes…mushrooms) – so I absolutely understand the inner eye-rolling reflex kicking in when a miraculous new treatment surfaces. I get it. It’s even tougher when you sell a product, of course I’m biased and so, maybe it is perceived that one’s intentions are less than altruistic – I get that, too.

Alisha BridgesThen today, I watched this video from Alisha Bridges on coping with psoriasis. It made me remember how I got myself into this, all over again.  This lady is a warrior.

I joined Temple Spa because I found a range of products that absolutely defied all of my stubborn attempts to acknowledge that anything was going to make me feel better about myself and I wanted to be able to share that revelation with others; to help them as much as I am helping myself. I know what it is like to have a condition that makes every day a challenge; anything that might make any day more comfortable is welcomed.

To that end, here I go again – specifically reaching out to those of you who battle psoriasis (or any other skin disorders such as acne, rosacea or eczema) and you haven’t tried our products then at least consider it. Talk to me – I have weapons; ask me for a sample, find out what other customers have used and try some Temple Spa.

I promise, with my hand on my heart, never to attempt to sell you mushrooms. Oh! Wait…

I honestly just want to be great and live for more than just myself. I want to serve for a greater purpose. I want to change people’s hearts and create compassion among people the least understood.
